Controlling weight

One of the disadvantages of being in the IT industry is the sedentary lifestyle. This lifestyle made me put on a lot of weight and unfit. I realized a few months ago that I need to lose weight in order to get back my fit body and to be mentally fit. That is when I decided to hit the gym and lose those extra pounds. My strong commitment and will power helped me lose around 12 kgs in just 5 months.This gave me a lot of confidence and a wish to share my experience and the knowledge I have gained with anyone aspiring to be fit.

I am writing this with a purpose of motivating and helping anyone who needs to lose weight for any reason what so ever. First of all, the most important thing to do anything is to have a positive attitude. If you have a positive attitude then there is nothing in this world that you can't achieve( how-so-ever cliche it may sound).I know so many people who join the gym with a wish(and need) to lose a lot of weight, but they pretty soon, burn out and stop going to the gym, only to gain even more weight.So, it is all in the mind :-).

Now, coming back to how to lose weight.


Get Rid of Saturated/Trans Fat
Yes, this is the culprit. Get rid of all the chips, ice-creams,cakes.(For India, it includes jalebis and samosas too).Avoid anything fried and also no more cold drinks or soda.
But do not reduce your Unsaturated fat intake.There are certain fats HDL that are good for you.These fats come from lean fat and chicken that are not fried.Healthy types for fat include tuna fish,salmon, fish oil supplements,nuts, olive oil and flaxseed oil.
Try to include more protein your in your diet.Protein can come from egg-whites, chicken-breast, tuna fish, etc.

Eat 5 times a day
Shocked???I know you would be.But the real reason of people gaining weight is that they can't keep away their food cravings.So, the best thing to do is to eat often but in small quantities.In this way you would be able to satisfy your cravings and also won't exceed the calorie intake.
A perfect and easy diet plan for an average person would be:

Breakfast 8am - Oat-meal and egg-whites

Snack 11 am - Have a bowl of fruits

Lunch 2 pm - 2-3 chapatis, 2 bowls of vegetables.

Snack 5 pm - Peanuts/fruits,etc.

Dinner 8 pm - 2-3 chapatis, 2 bowls of vegetables.



Exercise
Do cardio-vascular exercises for 30 minutes 5 times a week, and you won't have to worry about your fitness.The best Cardio-exercise is Running.Trust me there is no better way to reduce the fat other than
Running in a park or even a tread mill.
Weight Training- Yes, it is true, Weight training not only helps you build muscle and correct your body posture, it also helps you burn the fat.More the muscles, greater is your Metabolic Rate, greater are the calories you
burn.

Sleep! YES! Sleep! Get at least 6 hours of sleep a night.
